To try to predict the future based on just one variable (CO<inf>2) in extraordinarily complex natural systems is folly. Yet when astronomers have the temerity to show that climate is driven by solar activities rather than CO<inf>2 emissions, they are dismissed as dinosaurs undertaking the methods of old-fashioned science."</inf></inf></inf></inf>

Over time, the history of CO<inf>2 content in the atmosphere has been far higher than at present for most of time. In scripture and throughout history, we see that the Lord will often use awful events to further His purposes. An example, is the amount of serving people have the opportunity to do when disasters strike. During disasters communities will often bind together to help each other, relationships are strengthened, and people get a better perspective about what this life is all about.

Similarly, I think the backlash the LDS Church is experiencing for its support of Prop 8 has some positive unforeseen consequences.

Case in point, Dennis Prager's take on the situation:

"We are all Mormons" is now my motto… If there had been prior to this a lot of reservations among evangelicals about Mormons, because of their theological differences, I want you to know that those of you who are screaming obscenities in front of Mormon churches now you have brought together evangelicals, Catholics, and Mormons, as never before in history. Your anger and hatred and obscenities have succeeded in doing what nothing else could quite do before. For all we know you have made a [Mitt] Romney presidency possible. The cynical part of me wants you to continue your demonstrations because it only speaks to the incivility of your cause… And [then] that there is no condemnation of you among those who agree with you...

I view this backlash against the Church as just a fulfillment of this prophecy that Joseph Smith made many years ago:

The Standard of Truth has been erected. No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing. Persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame. But the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and dependent till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, until the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the Great Jehovah will say, 'The work is done."

In the Face of Hatred

An LDS LAPD looks at the temple protests in California. type='text'>Congrats, President Obama

Congratulations, President Barack Obama. You will be in my prayers. I hope you turn out to be a great president. I hope the economy does well, that America stays safe, and most importantly, that she maintains her values.

I also hope that Republicans and Conservatives can stay classy. Let's not be as hateful as the Left was towards President Bush. President Obama will be our President and we must always respect that office. So let's not call him names, let's not spread lies about him, and let's pray that he does a good job.

I tried to get my moderate friends to vote for McCain using the argument that Obama is too radical. His record shows that he has been. Let's hope he resists the temptation to go leftward and governs closer to the center.

Now, to see if Al Franken loses and Proposition 8 passes...

Global Warming? He is deliberately trying to mislead the American public. There are ways to store it safely. And if you want to store it in my house or in my back yard I'll happily do it, as long as you pay me fair market rates to do so (which is what the Government will/does do).

A good analogy: being against building more nuclear power plants until there is a "safe" way to store nuclear waste is akin to being against making more highways until there there is a way to eliminate all highway automotive deaths. Essentially, when you make such an argument, you against said thing.

The only thing wrong with this analogy is that how many people have ever died in America because of poorly stored nuclear waste? Zero. Storing nuclear energy is very safe. On the other hand, I am fairly sure, that ultimately, the chickens will come home to roost (we overspent and over socialized our economy). At some point in time an economic price will have to be paid for the excesses of the
past. The man was irate because of Obama's false claim on taxes when he said that very few business make over 250,000. The man went on to say that he himself employs 15 people and his company makes over 250,000 dollars. If Obama implements his tax plan, the guy said it will directly result in him laying off people

because he will no longer have the money to pay for them. Ironically, it will be the owner (the more affluent one) who will not be affected. Instead, it is the poorer guy who will be out of a job.
The problem with the Left is that their intentions are good, but the outcomes almost always are exactly the opposite of what they went out to accomplish.

Oh, and another thing. The story is chilling to say the least.

Another, from NPR about when gay rights and civil liberties clash.

And in response to the guys who comment on this blog. They like to attack proposition 8 proponents because we are for keeping the definition of marriage as it has always been throughout the history of all civilizations. They call us bigots and intolerant and hateful. Their intolerance of our views is exactly why we believe all the awful possible consequences will result if proposition 8 is not passed. So when you tell us about how the laws aren't really written in such a way as to enable the horror stories to come to fruition, I'd like to point to Roe V Wade. Where in the Constitution does the right to have an abortion exist? Nowhere. But when gay-rights advocates are so hateful of our views, and so sure of the righteousness of their views, I do not think it is implausible to say that some bad law will result.

For another example of what has already happened due to the intolerance of the Left, see this seven-part townhall.com article about a Mormon psychologist.

Proposition 8

Attention anyone who knows someone from California or is from California.

Please check out this site:

http://www.whatisprop8.com/

For those of you who have google alerts for "proposition 8" and the like and want to bash it, please at least provide some facts. It's disgusting what they are doing. I do not know of a single mainstream conservative or republican person who has ever mentioned his race as a negative. What they do mention is his lack of any meaningful achievement, his ignorance on the issues (especially in foreign issues), his radical left policies, his bad judgment (as we see from those he chooses as his friends and advisors), his radical position on abortion, and his desire to raise taxes and increase government spending.

And what if Palin was not in the race and it was Hillary Clinton who won the nomination. I have no doubt that the headlines would be saying "if McCain wins it is only because or sexism." But look how those "sexist" conservatives love Palin...

The issue comes down to the Left's view of the Right. They view conservatives as ignorant, cold-hearted, uneducated, sexist, homophobic, and racist. They think conservatives are evil people. In my post below, I mentioned these two quotes:

Howard Dean (head of the Democratic Party):

"Our moral values in contradistinction to the Republicans is that we care if children go to bed hungry at night."

Larry King

"Why is it that conservatives are so against this feeling of being kind?"
So if Republicans and middle America really are just a bunch of goons, of course they wouldn't like the black Barack Obama. Racism is obviously the only logical explanation because Barack is so articulate, exciting, and um, stuff.

Exit question: Since you are a racist if you do not vote for Barack, why is it not racist to vote for Barack Obama just because he is black? What percentage of blacks are going to be voting for him, again? I thought race did not dictate values. (side note: it is a rhetorical question, I do not think blacks are racist because they are voting for Obama in such disproportionate numbers).

Those heartless conservatives

I was reading lefty blogs today and stumbled across this:
http://leftsolutions.wordpress.com/

"Try this.

On one side of a city there are people so wealthy that after big parties, they are throwing out meat. On the other side there are people so poor, they cannot afford to buy meat.

Is this a moral problem?

–This question is a litmus test. It is attributed to John Rawls, liberal theorist from the 1970s. Free market and laissez faire conservatives see no problem - they think it's "in the nature of things" that some people have more than they know what to do with, while others live with scarcity. For them, the inequality is simply not an issue.

Next, there are people who say it's a technical problem of not enough food being grown to keep everybody in abundance, not a moral problem.

But liberals see it differently. Liberals feel there is something wrong with a system (city, nation) which in total, contains enough food for everybody, but not everyone is able to get it. The situation is unjust.

Liberalism - the left - rests on moral judgments. A prime moral is justice."

My response:

"For them (conservatives), the inequality is simply not an issue." This is a rather typical indictment of the right. Case in point:

Howard Dean (head of the Democratic Party):

"Our moral values in contradistinction to the Republicans is that we care if children go to bed hungry at night."

Larry King

"Why is it that conservatives are so against this feeling of being kind?"
The truth? Conservatives donate significantly more time and money to charity than liberals. In a perfect world, everyone would have equal possessions. But artificially creating that by stealing from some and giving it to others is not only an immoral way of getting that outcome, it's harmful to those that we are trying to help. Welfare recipients often times become dependent upon the government which results in severe narcissism, selfishness, and unhappiness. The problem is with how the federal government gives welfare. Many churches get it right. You don't just hand it out. You provide the individual or family with the ability to get on their feet when wise people deem it prudent. That's why welfare is best distributed at a local level, and most ideally by family members, Churches, or perhaps local governments. If federal welfare worked, and by that I mean served the recipients well. And if it didn't require the government to force others to pay for it, conservatives would be all for it. However, it's outcome that matters. When deciding public policy, ask if it actually does good, not if it feels good.

Update: Also, since when is there this problem of starving people in America? I don't believe that this is even a problem. Go to Manaus. But even there, I rarely saw people who were starving. And that's only if the definition of starving means that you missed a meal or two in the last week and your source of protein was eggs, rather than meat.

Passing the Buck

“Well, uh, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or, uh, a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know, is, is, uh, above my pay grade.” - Sen. Barack Obama, on “When does a baby get human rights?”

A insightful take on Obama's above statement:

"Leaders don’t pass tough questions to the next “pay grade.” They don’t need five minutes to answer yes-or-no questions about the surge or Russia’s invasion of a democratic neighbor.

Politicians flip-flop on taxes and FISA and the Second Amendment to meet the political needs of the moment. And Barack Obama is 100 percent pure politician.
He is certainly no Harry Truman." - Boston Herald

The quote below comes from Wikipedia, it helps clarify what "the buck stops here" means. I found it interesting cause I used to think the "buck" referred to money:

"The buck stops here" is a phrase that was popularized by U.S. President Harry S. Truman. It refers to "passing the buck," i.e., handing responsibility to someone else, and the fact that the president has to make the decisions and accept the ultimate responsibility for those decisions.

The Buck, a marker or counter, was used to indicate the person whose turn it was to deal in the game of Poker. If the player did not wish to deal he could pass the responsibility by passing the "buck", as the counter came to be called, to the next player.

When does life begin?

On August 16th, at the Saddleback forum, Rick Warren asked Obama about when life begins. Obama punted, saying 'it's above my pay grade.' Transcript here.

As a Mormon, I take the same position as my Church when they state that we do not know exactly when life begins. However, even seconds after conception, I believe that what was created is sacred and should have rights. The fetus should have more rights than any animal. But in this country, it does not. If the mother decides that the baby is worth a chewed up sun flower seed, the baby can be thrown away.

But one question needs to be asked of Obama: if you don't know when life starts, why are you willing to err on the side of killing? Especially when the health of the mother is not at stake (which is the case for the vast majority of abortions).

Compare Barack's response to McCain's:

[When does life begin?] “At the moment of conception. I have a 25-year pro-life record in the Congress, in the Senate, and as president of the United States, I will be a pro-life president and this presidency will have pro-life policies.”

McCain looked like a leader. Obama, a pandering politician.

Obama, infanticide, and lies

From nationalreview.com:

"In 2001, Senator Barack Obama was the only member of the Illinois senate to speak against a bill that would have recognized premature abortion survivors as “persons.” The bill was in response to a Chicago-area hospital that was leaving such babies to die. Obama voted “present” on the bill after denouncing it. It passed the state Senate but died in a state house committee.

In 2003, a similar bill came before Obama’s health committee. He voted against it. But this time, the legislation was slightly different. This latter version was identical to the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which by then had already passed the U.S. Senate unanimously (with a hearty endorsement even from abortion advocate Sen. Barbara Boxer) and had been signed into law by President Bush.

Sen. Obama is currently misleading people about what he voted against, specifically claiming that the bill he voted against in his committee lacked “neutrality” language on Roe v. Wade. The bill did contain this language. He even participated in the unanimous vote to put it in...

...

after the above amendment was added to change the original bill, making it identical to the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, Obama and five other Democrats voted to kill it. They killed the same bill that the U.S. Senate had passed unanimously. Here is the interview in which Sen. Obama offers his false explanation once again, which is contradicted not only by eyewitnesses but also by the records of his own committee:

...I hate to say that people are lying, but here’s a situation where folks are lying. I have said repeatedly that I would have been completely in, fully in support of the federal bill that everybody supported — which was to say — that you should provide assistance to any infant that was born - even if it was as a consequence of an induced abortion. That was not the bill that was presented at the state level. What that bill also was doing was trying to undermine Roe vs. Wade.

The senator is right. Someone is lying."

The fact that the mainstream media isn't covering this and that the majority of the public doesn't know about this is just another evidence that the media is shamefully biased.

Change he doesn't even believe in.

In order to win the hearts of the Left (but not the minds because the Left doesn't think, they feel), Obama embraced every Leftist idea he could. He declared that he would bring about change. I like the honesty there. He would bring about drastic changes. Then his campaign coined the term, "Change you can believe in!" Really corny, but obviously effective enough to win the nomination. Now that he has won the nomination, he has quickly reversed his position on about a dozen positions (see here and here). Clearly, he is trying to win moderates and independents. Interestingly enough, this is only causing many of the bitter Hillary supporters to become even less likely to go out to the voting booths this fall (see here).

But what about the change that we can believe in?

He gained popularity casting himself as a new kind of politician who would be free of special interest influences - a principled man who would make the world love America. Well, even the New York Times doesn't see him as that kind of figure anymore. Apparently, Obama didn't even believe in "change" if he's already guilty of embracing mainstream positions that grossly contradict his left-wing policies of change.

Exit question: Obama's approval rating is only 51%. And that's before he has implemented any of his tax hikes or other unseemly changes. How fast will this man's approval rating sink once the uninformed see what kind of change he offers?

Sick of gas prices?

Do something about it. I'm not a global warming denier. I'm a global warming agnostic who believes instinctively that it can't be very good to pump lots of CO2 into the atmosphere, but is equally convinced that those who presume to know exactly where that leads are talking through their hats.
Predictions of catastrophe depend on models. Models depend on assumptions about complex planetary systems -- from ocean currents to cloud formation -- that no one fully understands. Which is why the models are inherently flawed and forever changing. The doomsday scenarios posit a cascade of events, each with a certain probability. The multiple improbability of their simultaneous occurrence renders all such predictions entirely speculative.
Yet on the basis of this speculation, environmental activists, attended by compliant scientists and opportunistic politicians, are advocating radical economic and social regulation. They are: "Has the war made us any safer?" and "Are our troops any closer to coming home?"

"Are we any safer now?" - Good, reasonable people can honestly differ on this issue. But! The answer to this question does not matter right now!

The real question is will we be safer if we stay there than if we leave there? That is the only question that should matter to the American people at this time with regards to going in to/staying in Iraq.

"Are our troops any closer to coming home?" - This question should actually be, "What do we need to do to win this war?" The Republicans want to win this war and Democrats want to get out of Iraq.

Source: Dennis Prager

Experience

One of the main points that Republicans will be making during the fall campaign will be that Obama seriously lacks experience and understanding of the War on Islamic Terror. Democrats often state that we should be fighting Al Qaeda (by focusing our effort in Afghanistan) and that fighting in Iraq is unrelated to the War on Terror because Saddam had no connection to Al Qaeda*. The problem with this mentality was eloquently expressed in a recent interview of Rudolph Giuliani by Michael Medved. In the interview, Mayor Giuliani said that he learned a valuable lesson as Mayor of New York as he tried to fight crime and the mobsters in NYC. He said that if you focus on just fighting one mob family, you will do nothing to the crime rate and you will increase the power of the other families. The way that the Mayor fought crime and reduced it significantly during his time in office was by fighting all of the mob families. The same goes for fighting Islamofascism. If you only fight Al Qaeda, this only means that the other terrorist organizations will get stronger, resulting in no reduction in total terrorist power.

* The fact that Saddam had no connection to Al Qaeda or terrorism is actually very complicated. Because Saddam did support terrorism (ie he gave $25,000 to Palestinian suicide bombers' families), and he also had indirect relationship with Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

Her hair is everywhere

How many hours have you spent trying to figure out what Chris Carrabba meant when he wrote and sang the words "your hair is everywhere!!!"? It seemed really distressing and important when he sang it (that's why I wrote it with three exclamation points). I never figured out what it meant (mostly because I was scared) until tonight. I was doing laundry with the wife. And her hair was found in the clothes and I exclaimed (say it with me), "[wife], your hair is everywhere!!!" And that was when it hit me. You see, there was this girl who Chris Carrabba liked very, very much. But, like most singers' relationships, it ended badly and he was left with his heart on the ground with footprints on it. When Chris Carrabba was staring at his heart on the ground, he noticed that a piece of her hair was on it. Later that day, he noticed a couple of strands of her hair on his spoon, his toothbrush, the refrigerator, and his hand towel. Fate could not have been clearer. He needed to write a song about this because every time he saw a strand of hair, he was reminded of his broken heart on the floor with footprints and hair on it - and it just ate his soul.

An important point about WMD's, Saddam, and Iraq

Question:
Why did Saddam claim that he had WMD's when he didn't? Why did those officials who defected from Iraq claim and believe that Saddam had WMD's?

Context:
It is a fact that he once had them and used them. It is also a fact that he wouldn't allow full inspections to prove that he didn't have WMD's. Additionally, he allowed inspectors to do some inspections to try and appease those in the world who would impose trade sanctions on Iraq.

Answers:
To tyrranize people into submission because everyone believed he had them, and feared he would use it again. 'Everyone' includes Iranians, Iraqi dissidents, and others. Iranians would not attack Iraq if they thought Iraq had WMD's. Iran wanted revenge because they had lost a million people in a war started by Saddam Hussein. But, Iran was deterred from seeking revenge because of this false belief that Iraq had WMD's.

Take home lesson:
George Bush did not lie about Iraq having WMD's. Wright and Rezko. From here, his negatives will only increase because Obama is an enigmatic, unproven figure. Most people are unaware of his radical positions. And, if the people exclusively get their news from main stream media, they have only heard positive things about him until recently. McCain has been in the public light for decades. We know who John is, the good and the bad. I present some facts to spur a second analysis:

National Journal (a non-partisan organization) officially labeled Senator Obama the most liberal member of the United States (that means more liberal than Senators Clinton, Edwards, Kerry, Feinstein, Boxer, Leahy…. That truly is remarkable. He is undoubtedly far to the left of the average American, and certainly way more out of touch with the average American than McCain is.

McCain is for cutting taxes and stopping pork. Obama's tax and spending plan is not what the average American will want to vote for when the time comes to mark that ballot, especially considering the state of the economy lately.

The surge is working

Senator Obama has served less than 3 years in the US Senate

Barack has no executive experience

Barack has no foreign policy experience

Barack has no military experience

Obama lost party primaries important and big states like Texas, California, New York, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania

His minister sounds like Louis Farrakhan and is actually friends with Farrakhan and gives him awards

His speech to defend choosing the bigoted America-hating Rev. Wright as his pastor was NOT good

Two words: Tony Rezko

He does have impressive political skills, but he did refer to his grandmother on national television as 'a typical white person'. Can you imagine the uproar if McCain called Obama or any minority as a 'typical _______ person'? Lately, Obama has made many similarly bad mistakes that have hurt his numbers.

Note: I acknowledge that McCain is far from perfect and there is certainly a list like this one pointing out why Obama has a good chance. I'm just arguing that President Obama is no sure thing. His battle to the White House will be just as difficult as McCain's.

Huckabee Announces Candidacy for American Idol; Vows to Defeat Mormon Finalists

An excerpt from the 'article':

Despite the initial shock among the entertainment elite at the politician’s decision, Huckabee has a lot of support among his base of Evangelical Christians. Well, there have been some more developments since I last wrote. First off, Karl Rove and other Bush cronies have stated that they would like to see Romney as VP. Second, there have been several articles and op-eds that have circulated the idea that Romney is being considered and that he would make a good VP choice. And most interestingly, Romney himself has stated that he would love to run for VP with McCain, adding that "there are really no hard feelings [between him and McCain]."

So, Romney for VP? There are obviously no guarantees, but it's certainly a possibility, and it's not unreasonable to say it would be a dang good idea.

For those who lack in McCain love

While Hillary and Obama continue to neglect their responsibilities as Senators (and continue to get paid salaries), McCain has canceled campaign activities to help stop earmarks by casting a vote for Senator DeMint's amendment to ban earmarks. Hillary and Obama are scared to vote on this because it will reveal a lot to the general public for the general election - stuff that your average independent will not like.

So, the moral of the story? I would like to propose we add one to that list - The Simpsons. The Simpsons have been around since before the end of the cold war, which means a really long time. In April 2006 Matt Groening said, "I honestly don't see any end in sight. I think it's possible that the show will become too financially cumbersome... but right now, the show is creatively, I think, as good or better than it's ever been... stories do things that we haven't done before. So creatively there's no reason to quit." That sounds like something eternal to me.

Ok, I used to be a huge, big fan of the Simpsons. At my parents' house in Colorado there is a picture of me when I was 7 wearing a Bart Simpson's shirt and sporting a crazy cool haircut and microphone. We used to watch the show every week as a family during this time of my upbringing. But I hadn't seen the Simpsons (sans the Simpsons movie) since 2002 until just recently when my boss showed me hulu.com, a place where you can watch many episodes of the Simpsons. Behold, an old joy rediscovered. You can also watch many movies, and other television shows. So check out hulu.com and watch stuff for free. (I should get paid for this post.)

Another reason we should fear Obama

California, a state that is notorious for its insanely liberal courts, recently surprised no one by ruling that parents in California do not have a right to teach (read: home school) their children. I don't live in California, but this ruling both incensed me and scared me. And, obviously, the power hungry and child hurting union known as the Teacher's Union applauded the decision saying:

"We're happy. We always think students should be taught by credentialed teachers, no matter what the setting."

For those of you who don't have good enough eyesight to read between the lines, what he really said was:

"We're very selfish. We always put the students and parents last and ourselves first by ensuring that our monopoly and power continually grow. We must protect our jobs! That's why we donate to the Democrats more than almost any other group. Oh, and we suck!"

If you want to use that anger in your bones for something useful, you should sign this petition to request depublishing of the California court case.

Oh, and the moral of the lesson? Do not let Obama turn the US Federal courts into a mirror image of the Californian state courts. Cause if he's elected, he will. Wooohoo!" You sick, confused people.

Over the past 5 years I have asked many acquaintances one question, "Who's more right, the Israelis or the Palestinians?" I get lots of responses from "I have no idea. Is Palestine one of those oil countries?" to "I guess they're equally wrong." Not one of them said that there is a moral Grand Canyon sized difference between the two. I have asked others since then, and very few people, other than my close friends, have stated the truth about the situation.

This is both interesting and disturbing.

I could tell dozens and dozens of stories to back up my belief that Israel as a whole is vastly morally superior to Palestine. But I will just tell one. (And yes, I acknowledge that there are individual Israelis who are terrible people, and individual Palestinians who are wonderful people.)

Yesterday, after a Palestinian terrorist broke into a Jerusalem seminary school and murdered at least 8 students, thousands of Palestinians in Gaza celebrated in the streets.

Click here to see pictures and a more detailed depiction of what happened at the massacre. *Warning* The pictures are very bloody.

Now, Israel will hopefully retaliate, and morally confused people will condemn them for doing so. But you CANNOT negotiate with monsters whose main goal is to have your people completely annihilated. Israel has a right to defend itself. And when it defends itself, it goes after the terrorists who cowardly hide among civilians. These terrorists, on the other hand, go after school children, babies, families at shopping centers, and then take to the streets to celebrate it.

That, my friends, is just one example of the Grand Canyon sized moral difference between a good society and an awful society.

UPDATE: The United Nations did not condemn the shooting. The condemnation was blocked by a Libyan who equated killing children inside a school to killing terrorists who hide among civilians. The last one was in the early 1800's. In that time, we have records of ice near the Gulf of Mexico, frozen water bodies near Long Island, and other things. Apparently, we are due for another ice age anytime. Is that time now? And if so, we may be wishing global warming was real as our poor bodies shiver in the cold, cold air.

Do you think we'll hear an apology from the global warming hysterics and alarmists (ie Nobel Peace Prize winner and inventor of the internet, Al Gore)? I am not one of these, I will donate to McCain. But, if you are disinclined to spend money on the old man, consider donating to one of the GOP candidates for spots in the US Senate.

It is important to remember that a US president will have little success at pushing through their agenda without the support of the Senate or House. So what better way to ensure that McCain doesn't go too far to the left (a worry many conservatives have about him) if the GOP has a majority in the Senate.

Go here to donate.

Good news, bad news

For those of us who do not want a Democrat for president, you should be quite pleased with what is going on with the Presidential Primary on that side of the aisle. Twelve contests remain and they offer a total of 611 delegates. Of those, Obama needs 77% to win, and Clinton needs 97% to win. Not gonna happen. It's gonna be more like 60-40 or 55-45. That means that this race is going to end in August at the convention and it will be the Superdelegates who decide the victor. Which will undoubtedly be polemical and rift causing. In the mean-time, we get to watch as they attack each other, spend lots of money, exhaust themselves in order to try and win the nomination. And McCain gets to get his campaign in order and raise money while all this mayhem ensues.

American Idol is over for the women

Wow. Others have said they would personally be happy to pay higher taxes. I welcome their enthusiasm. Remington's letter in BYU's Daily Universe about Obama and Remington's desire for America to be loved.

First, the world does not hate America, the Left hates America. Why else have Canada, France, Germany and other countries recently elected pro-American Prime Ministers and (Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy both ran on pro-American platforms, just two examples)? When I served my mission in Brazil, I met tourists from all over the world who admired America and would love to live here. It is the Left that feels otherwise.. (When the Left controls much of America's and the rest of the world's media, this will undoubtedly taint your average Joe's opinion of the US). Our goal should not be to be loved; it should be to lead the rest of the world in defending liberty and fighting evil (Oh how the left hates it when conservatives call to fight "evil").

Second, I believe the Book of Mormon to be written for our times. In Alma, Moroni led the Nephites to defend their families and their freedom. Many chapters deal with preparing great city defenses. The US defense budget has the same purpose: to defend families and freedom. Nobly and unlike any other country in history, the US fights for the liberties and families of OTHER people. How Christian! The simple response to “Who is the US government to send off soldiers to die for other nations?” is that the US Military consists of 100% volunteers.

As for Obama, he is for slowing down the military. Captain Moroni strengthened defenses when there was an imminent threat. In days of "wars and rumors of wars" and a time where radical terrorism constitutes an imminent threat, it would be devastatingly unwise to weaken the military.

"YES WE CAN" change this country and move drastically to the Left by shrinking our military, drastically raising taxes, further increasing government spending, appointing very liberal Supreme Court Justices who will undoubtedly legislate from the bench in the same manner they did with Roe V Wade, and other things that Obama plans on doing to "change" America. But I pray daily that we don't.

Some More Heart Heaters

So I am so tired of Hollywood's broken moral compass. They alone fulfill Biblical prophesy that there will be some who call "evil good and good evil." But sometimes, somehow, they accidentally release some movies that aren't so trashy.

Two films that I saw this weekend that portray evil as evil and good as good are Martian Child and The Family Man (with Nic Cage). Please do check them out if you want to support movies that support Judeo-Christian Values.

Please note that The Family Man is PG-13 and deservedly so... Who do you think said that in 2002? GOP Presidential Nominee John McCain. And now that Mitt Romney has endorsed him, and as I stated earlier on this site that "he [McCain] also said his staff was talking with Gov. Mitt Romney's staff about 'getting together,'" we have a good amount of evidence to suggest that Mitt Romney has a good chance at becoming VP.

Oh, and a good reason for McCain to put Mitt on the ticket is to be able to tap into Mitt Romney's wealth. Obama has a lot; he'll be hard to beat without a good stash of cash. Another good reason is to help unite conservatives behind McCain. Conservative talk-radio was screaming for Mitt's nomination because he was the one who best fit the conservative description. So with Mitt on the ticket, that will do much to assuage bitter feelings and mistrust conservatives have for McCain.

You can see a video of McCain's endorsement of Mitt Romney in 2002 here.

McCain's staff in talks with Romney on "getting together"

Could it be that my prayers and dreams are going to come true? Oh, please be wise. On Hannity and Colmes there was a group of Obama supporters. A link to that video was posted earlier on my blog. In it, the Obama supporters were asked to name any accomplishments of Obama's. They had nothing. Related to that, on another Hannity and Colmes show an Obama supporter said "Because he’s the only African American." Ok, what would the MSM (main stream media) say if McCain supporters said that they support him "because he's the only white candidate that has a chance of winning..." Or, if they said they wanted McCain because the only other option is some black guy. What a shallow and intellectually pathetic reason to support someone. It's just stupid.

Sincerely,
Concerned

Update:
Click here to see the video with your own eyes.

A perfect summation of conservative principles

Mitt Romney's speech is a perfect summation of conservative principles. What a wonderful speech it was. VP candidate? Presidential candidate in 4 years when McCain doesn't seek re-election because of his age? We'll see. All I know is that he has won the hearts and minds of many people. he got almost as many votes as McCain did, just not nearly as many delegates... such is the nature of the beast.

Watch his debate here.

Read the text of his speech here.

Go McCain

I watched McCain's CPAC speech here. Not only will I vote for McCain this fall, but I will enthusiastically support him and donate money and time to his campaign. It did not take long, surprisingly. But I am now very pro-McCain. I even had a blog 2 years ago about his run for the presidency. I contributed to his campaign, prayed for his campaign, and rooted feverishly for his victory.

Many people are depressed about Mitt Romney recently announcing that he is dropping out of the race. I, however, am not. In fact, my spirits are quite high; I feel really good. Well, why, in the name of death, aren't I as sad and angry as a a two year old who was forbidden to eat any candy, you ask?

Many reasons. Ever since Romney lost in New Hampshire I had serious and reasonable doubts about his chances of winning in November; John McCain has a much better chance of winning this November. As president, McCain would do many good things. He would veto any bills that vastly expand the size of government and he'd make sure to stop pork. He would appoint conservative Justices and federal district judges (that, my friends, is a HUGE deal). As Mitt Romney stated in his CPAC speech, McCain will allow America to win the War on Islamic Terror. And lastly, him being in the presidency means that it is not the Clinton duo or Obama in the oval office destroying our country with ridiculous health care reforms, expansion of the government, destroying the Constitution, and moving the country farther and farther to the Left.

On the other hand, if McCain loses, I still will feel optimistic. I do so because I remember what happened in '76. Reagan lost in the primaries and Ford ran against Carter. Carter won and damaged this country considerably. But then in '80, Reagan won the presidency and did a lot to turn things around. I see Romney's chances of winning in 2012 to be much better than they would have been in '08. In 2011, the country would have seen first hand how radical the democratic party is these days. And I believe firmly that they would reject their socialist, anti-liberty positions and elect Romney.

Romney has learned a lot during these primaries. He has learned how to connect with people, and how to seem less scripted on robotic. He has also learned that people want him to be genuine and talk about what he is passionate about - changing Washington, stimulating the economy, fighting the war on Islamic Fascism, and making families stronger. He seemed too phony when he talked about other conservative issues that he may believe in, but just not as passionately. I'm the same way. I'm for the second amendment, but if I had to give a speech about it, it would be completely devoid of any enthusiasm or apparent conviction. To be concise, in 2012, Romney would know how to do to connect with the people better and seem more genuine. He will also not have to spend as much money on his next campaign because now he has name-recognition. And another huge advantage is that he has won over conservative talk show hosts and pundits Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dennis Prager, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, Hugh Hewitt, Dean Barnett, Ann Coulter and many others. They all view and vouch for him as a conservative, smart, and capable man. He will have a lot going for him at the next Republican Primary.

So either way, come November, I'll be optimistic no matter the outcome. We win if McCain wins, and we win if one of the democrats wins.

What do Obama and your mama have in common?

I have friends. Several. And some of them express concern that Obama is just too likeable and charismatic and likable. Yes, I said likable. Even I like him. And few people can hate as deep and relentlessly as I can. I mean, do you remember Oprah? Yeah, well, I hate her.

Then there was that moment that I realized why he is so likable. He's likable just like your friends' really nice mama. So I made a list of things that Obama has in common with your mama.

If you are black, then your mom is black which is also what Obama is!

Statistically, women are more likely to be democrats! AND! Statistically, mothers are likely to be women! (fact: if certain democrats have their way, the number of male mothers will rise 80%) Oh, and Obama is a democrat, if you didn't already see the connection.

Remember that one time(s) when you asked mum if you could sleep at your friend's house and she said 'no' but then when you asked 'why?!' she just said, 'cause…' and you hated her for that because it was so tyrannical and mean. Obama is like that. Like with global warming, and taxes, and the definition of marriage – Obama is just so arrogant and tyrannical and yes, mean.

I'm done with that list. So the real reason for this post is to show you hope. Yes, hope. Even though Mitt Romney won't be winning anything any time in the next four years, there is some cookie that didn't fall to the floor. The hope can be found in the video below. Obama will be beatable. Well, as long as the Obamazombies wake up and smell reason and logic and goodness.

Check this out:

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/02/04/hannity-to-pro-obama-luntz-focus-group-name-one-of-his-accomplishments/

And now for something serious

About 50% of what I write on here is ridiculous (the other half is pure brilliant). But I was filling out a survey and it asked me what my sex was, my ethnicity, and what I consider myself to be politically. Two of the options were 'conservative', and 'very conservative'. My question is. What does 'very conservative' even mean? What is the difference? If a conservative thinks that abortion should be illegal, the death penalty should be used on some convicted murderers, the government should be smaller and less intrusive, and that marriage should be defined a union between man and a woman, then what in the name of Anderson Cooper does very conservative mean? Abortion should be punishable by death? That the death penalty should be for jay walkers? That the government should go find a hole and bury itself it in? Or that marriage should only be between religious and God-fearing men and women?

I just don't understand it. Yesterday I went to church and I wanted to show off my new suit and my new watch (both gifts from the father-in-law). Half-way through church, I noticed that the suit pants had faded colors significantly since I put them on that morning in the dark. After much thought, I realized that I put on the wrong pants. Woops.

When I got after church I changed pants before heading out for some sweet home teaching. I believe that it is important make my wife look good by matching clothes. Half way through the lesson, I looked down and realized that once again, I'm a fool - wrong pants.

To prevent further incidents which will only make Becki look bad, Becki will now be in charge of dressing me from here on out.

Go Romney.

Florida's GOP Debate

I'm heavily into politics. If politics was pudding, I'd be a small grain of rice at the bottom of a bowl of rice pudding. I watched last night's debate with my wife. Here are my thoughts:

1) Contention. There was very little fighting and mean-speaking amongst the candidates. It warmed my heart. And it was such a contrast to the very contentious and childish Donkey debate in South Carolina. Before the debate I was so very anti-McCain and Huckabee. Now that I've seen everyone get along nicely (and after seeing McCain defend Giuliani's honor), I have been pondering the idea of a Mitt - McCain ticket or a Mitt - Huckabee ticket. Both of those ideas sound very appealing. McCain can attract the moderates and military people. Huckabee can attract any evangelicals who hate them Mormons and who would otherwise sit this election out. And Mitt will attract the conservative base and those worried about the economy.

2) Mitt Romney. The highly overrated Tim Russert tried desperately to "get" Mitt Romney but Romney took everyone of those attacks and turned them into Gold stars which he pinned on his $2000 suit. Very nice.

I could go on but if you want a detailed analysis of the debate, this is not the place to be. Go to townhall.com, nationalreview.com, redstate.com, or hotair.com if you want a detailed analysis.

And here is my prediction: Mitt Romney wins Florida. Then he goes on to win more delegates than McCain or anyone else on super duper Tuesday because he has more money, a better organized campaign than anyone else, and great support from the conservative base, and a long list of influential supporters (Rush, Coulter, nationalreview, Senators, Governors, and conservative leaders). After February 5, Rudy and possibly Giuliani drop out which leaves McCain and Romney battling it out. McCain in the end loses because he does not have Republican support. How could he win a Republican Presidential nomination without it?

On the Donkey side, I predict Hillary as the winner. However, in order to win the nomination, she ends up dividing the Democratic party so that many moderate democrats, blacks, and Clinton haters (and those who fear the Clinton Dynasty) sit the election out or vote Republican which in turn equates to a Mitt Romney Presidency.

Go Mitt.
